The Higher Education Students' Loans Board (HESLB), in collaboration with Adapt IT and Information Systems Experts from 50 universities and colleges, have held a consultative meeting to discuss existing gaps in the digital systems used for exchanging information between HESLB and its stakeholders.
The two-day meeting has started today (23rd July, 2026) at the HESLB’s Eastern Zone Offices in Dar es Salaam, focusing on identifying challenges affecting the efficiency of information sharing and exploring practical solutions to improve the quality, accuracy, and speed of service delivery. It brought together ICT professionals from tertiary education institutions (TEIs) mostly based in Dar es salaam, to exchange experiences, insights and recommendations on strengthening system interoperability and collaboration.
During the day one session, participants underscored the importance of integrated digital systems in supporting efficient student loan administration and ensuring seamless communication between HESLB and TEIs. They also emphasized the need for continuous collaboration to ensure information systems remain responsive to evolving institutional requirements and technological advancements.
Participants identified key areas requiring improvement and proposed strategies aimed at enhancing digital integration and strengthening institutional partnerships. HESLB reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with stakeholders to implement sustainable system improvements that support effective digital service delivery.
The enhanced collaboration is expected to deliver several benefits, including faster and more accurate exchange of student information, reduced delays in loan processing and verification, improved data quality through better system integration, greater transparency and accountability, and more efficient services for students and TEIs.
The meeting forms part of HESLB's ongoing efforts to modernize its digital infrastructure and strengthen cooperation with TEIs in order to provide timely, reliable and high-quality services to key stakeholders.
