2,518 STUDENTS ALLOCATED LOANS WORTH TZS 6.9 BILLION IN BATCH THREE

The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board today has announced the third batch (Batch Three) with 2,518 students who are allocated loans worth TZS 6.9 billion for the academic year 2023/2024.

The 2,518 students are first-year students joining various Higher Education Institutions in the country for local undergraduate degrees.

The number of new students allocated loans reaches 73,078

Following the release of batch three, the total number of new undergraduate students allocated loans has reached 73,078 and the value of their loans is TZS 210.8 billion.

It may be recalled that, 56,132 undergraduate students were allocated loans worth TZS 159.7 billion in Batch One announced on Friday, October 20, 2023. In addition, Batch Two with 14,428 students who were allocated loans worth TZS 44.2 billion, was announced on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Among the 73,078 students allocated loans, 42,386 (57%) are male and 30,692 (42.6%) are female.

Importance of SIPA - Student’s Individual Permanent Account

Students allocated loans in the batch three and all loan applicants, are advised to visit their online accounts that they used to apply for loans popularly known as ‘SIPA’.

Loan applicants are reminded that SIPA is IMPORTANT channel of accessing information about the applicant’s loan status.

Opening of the Appeals Window

After the announcement of the batch three, HESLB is currently completing preparations for opening an appeal window that will be open from Wednesday, November 8, 2023 to allow loan applicants appeal for additional loan amount or allocation of loans for students who are yet to be allocated loan in the announced three batches.

Loan budget for 2023-2024

The government has budgeted TZS 731 billion for undergraduate students for the year 2023/2024, to 220,376 students. Among them, 75,000 students are expected to be first year loan beneficiaries.

Loans for Diploma Students

Meanwhile, HESLB would like to inform diploma level students who applied for loans that verification of their applications is being completed and the list of loan beneficiaries for the year 2023/2024 will be announced on Thursday, November 9^th, 2023.
